Two golden retrievers – Higgins and Dodger – tended to their owner when she suffered an injury in her home. Judy Muhe, of Palmdale, Florida, bruised her head and shattered her shoulder when she fell in her own home. The 76 year old woman lives alone and has Parkinson’s disease, spent the 48 hours after her fall drifting in and out of consciousness.
Help didn’t arrive for two days following the accident, but 10 year old Higgins and 4 year old Dodger were by her side throughout. The two dogs laid beside her ,keeping her warm.
Muse told ABC News:
“The main thing was they let me know I was not alone.. [Higgins] laid up against my back, and Dodger laid on my feet and legs … I don’t know what I would have done without them … I just love my dogs so much.”
The ordeal came to and end when her good friend Kathy Jacobs entered Muhe’s home using a key she had given her – she was concerned that she hadn’t responded to any phone calls.
Jacobs told ABC news: “When I came in, we found her right away on the floor… The dogs were right here with her. They actually ran to the door and then they ran back to where she was, like showing us that she was there.”
