Here are some tips on how to utilize your dog’s home away from home; the dog park.
Find The Right One.
The first thing that you need to do is search for a park designed for dogs and not a regular park. Often people think they are the same thing, those people are wrong, you’ll be surprised by just how different the two are. In a regular park which will be surrounded by over excited kids on swings etc. your dog will have remain restrained at all times. So find a park made for dogs that allows them to roam free.
When you find the park right for you there are a few things you need to do before setting off:
. Make sure your dog is up to date on her vaccinations. If your pup gets in contact with a sick dog, she should be protected.
. Make sure your dog is a sociable dog before getting him to interact with other pets and owners. Take time to socialize him before you set off.
. Make sure your dog can obey basic commands so you are comfortable letting him the leash.
. Get to know your pet! And more importantly get to know how they play with other animals so you know when to jump in if things get out of hand.
Once you are fully prepared and are stocked up on toys and treats go out and have fun. Just remember when visiting the park for the first time, keep your visit short at first to maybe 10 – 15 minutes and increase it by 5 minutes with every visit. Also remember to that the first time should be in park that is not over populated so he gets a chance to become comfortable. After that get rid of leash, throw that ball in air and let your dog have the time of his life.
