It’s not only your annoying sometimes vegan friends that are fussy eaters. A fair share of dogs can be downright divas when it comes to food. Some will not eat dry food or many other types of food or the will only enjoy smoked salmon/steak/or best mince etc etc. As an owner this can give you a headache. Well here is how you get through it.
You might be surprised to know this but the biggest and most common cause of fussy eaters is due to us as owners. A lot of the time we are actually the ones that teach our dogs to be fussy and picky eaters by free feeding; leaving down food all day. The dog then comes to the realization that it can eat at any time and does not fall into a routine.
That’s the first thing you need to do. Get in front of Free feeding because it can have disastrous effects such as leading your dog to believe he is the pack leader because he can feed himself at anytime, make sure your dog knows who’s boss! The best way is to make a schedule of feeding times and stick to it.
When you get to grips with that the fussy eating will slowly decrease. Dogs are creatures of habit and they like structure which is why timing when your dog eats and being control of his feeding, is essential.
If your dog feels that he is in control that is when the havoc begins and is why he will believe that he can have caviar if he barks loud enough. All you have to do is be the pack leader and your dog will eat what you want him to eat.
