Animal rescuers In the United Kingdom have discovered (to their dog’s pleasure) that the sounds of soothing music help calm down their pets who have suffered horrible acts of negligence, and the music does well to put them at ease.
They have settled on BBC Radio 2 as the dog’s favorite station with ‘Diamond Dogs’ by David Bowie being a particular favorite among the stray dogs in Salford, Manchester. Some enjoy the soothing strings of Bach but most love that good ol’ Rock ‘N Roll.
They have tried other music – but the classical output of BBC Radio 3 does not have the same effect. They have turned their noses up at Classical classics such as Beethoven and have instead opted for the jukebox classics, such as ‘Hound Dog’ by Elvis, and Led Zeppelin’s ‘Black Dog’. Clearly they are not even a little bias!
