We all know that when we welcome a new baby into the world we have to child proof our home for their safety. What a lot of people don’t know is, the same goes for puppies, and here a few tips to help you along.
The first thing you should do is get down to puppy-eye level to see what might be tempting. Young pups are curious about new environments and tend to explore with their mouths, so Look for dangling electrical cords which may be an attractive chew toy for a young pup.
Baby proof locks work on puppies as well. Use them to stop your pet from opening drawers and cabinets which contain harmful things. Make sure your kitchen is well secured, seemingly harmless things such as flour and bread can cause major trouble for a dogs stomach. Also puppies can get caught behind the refrigerator. Block off access if possible.
The bathroom is just the same. Lock it down! Make all cosmetics and cleaning products unreachable. Also make sure the toilet lid remains closed at all times. Puppies tend to fall in, head first, which can lead to drowning.
These tips will help you along but just stay vigilant when around the house and try to spend as much time with your puppy as possible.
