At the end of last week, Phoenix Lowe and her pet dog Tilly were brought together after two long years and 1700 miles between them. In 2013, Tilly wandered off while being watched by another person and disappeared.
Phoenix said she was, “Really happy and excited” to be reunited with Tilly.
Jennifer Lowe, Phoenix’s mother, had learned that Tilly had been found only a day before last Friday’s emotional reunion. She had been driving at the time when she received the news. Jennifer said:
“I actually had to pull over, because I got the word on my way home from work. I think I screamed in my car.”
Even though Tilly was chipped and had a tag with her name and address on it, she wasn’t found after she got lost two years ago. As the months went on, they felt all hope was lost and they would never see Tilly again.
Tilly was finally found and brought to Lost and Found Pets in Lexington, Kentucky. Here, Tilly met Christine Stoops, who drove Tilly all the way to Salt Lake City in Utah for the reunion. Christine said:
“This is one of the best experiences I could ever be involved in… It was absolutely worth it. I can’t ask for anything more than seeing Phoenix’s face, along with Jennifer, and just being a part of bringing Tilly home.”
