They are calling her “The Supedog” and it’s easy to see why when you take a look at just how close to death this pooch was. The dog was struck by a train in Richmond, Virginia, and is in incredibly great shape for someone who was hit by a moving train. Although she lost her tail and one leg, she is alive and doing well!
A CSX worker who was patrolling the tracks saw the badly injured dog and called animal control.
She was quickly taken to the Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center to be looked over and treated. Sadly her stumps had to be better amputated, but it is believed her wounds were instantly cauterized, drastically limiting her chances of bleeding out and ultimately saving her life. Staff was amazed that she didn’t suffer internal damage.
Because she has no chips or tags, the staff have decided to call her (Lucky) Penny. Which we can all agree, is the perfect name for this courageous dog.
