An incredibly loyal dog stayed by her pal’s side for one whole week after she got trapped in a ravine.
The Bassett hound Phoebe, and the Setter mix Tillie went missing from their home in Washington State, US, early this September.
The owners launched several appeals to no avail and grew worried until residents near some woodland saw a reddish dog approach them and then head off down to ravine to sit by the side of its fellow canine which was trapped on an old concrete cistern.
The sighting was reported to Vashon Island Pet Protectors (VIPP) volunteers who searched the area.
The group had been regularly posting messages on its Facebook page in an effort track down the duo.
One such post reads: “With a needle in the haystack hope we made our way into the ravine and after a bit of searching, finally heard that sweet sound we have been waiting for all week. A small one-woof response when we called out. For nearly a week Tillie stayed by her side with the exception of the few minutes of each day when she went for help. A true friend and a humbling example of the power of love.”
Now that’s an understatement! The pair have now been reunited with their owners.
